Triggers for seizures
A seizure trigger is an external factor which can affect brain activity and bring on a seizure in a person who has epilepsy.
Some triggers include:
- Missed doses of medication.
- Lack of sleep or fatigue
- Stress or excitation
- Fever (febrile seizure)
- Elevated body temperature
- Colds, flu or some kind of infection
- Menstrual or hormonal cycle
- flashing or bright lights (photosensitivity)
- Toxicity/drug overdose
