Diet & Nutrition
People with epilepsy are advised to have good nutritional habits and a healthy lifestyle.
- No special diet is prescribed for epilepsy itself.

- The ketogenic diet, which is high in fat, approximates the metabolic circumstances of starvation. This has been effective in controlling seizures in young children.

- Large amounts of caffeine, alcohol or smoking can do harm.

- Alcohol may interfere with the anticonvulsant medication.
